Course Description:
An effective opening statement is critical to shaping juror perception and establishing the foundation for a persuasive case. This continuing legal education program is designed to enhance attorneys’ skills in crafting and delivering compelling opening statements. The first half of the course will feature a panel that covers the structure, strategy, and rhetorical techniques of successful openings, including how to build credibility, frame key issues, and tell a cohesive story. In the second half, registrants will break into small groups led by experienced trial attorneys to workshop and practice opening statements. Participants will receive personalized feedback and guidance, allowing them to refine their delivery and apply the concepts from the lecture in a hands-on setting. This dynamic, skills-based program is ideal for both newer litigators and seasoned practitioners seeking to sharpen their courtroom advocacy.
