This ethics program explores the critical importance of succession planning in legal practice, focusing on the professional responsibility attorneys have to ensure the continuity of client service and the orderly winding down or transfer of a practice. Participants will learn about the options for succession planning, the ethical duties related to protecting client interests, managing files and trust accounts, and avoiding conflicts of interest during transitions due to retirement, disability, or unexpected events. The course will provide practical guidance on creating succession plans that align with the Rules of Professional Conduct and uphold the integrity of the legal profession.
