Summary

Program Description:

Minnesota's Paid Family and Medical Leave program took effect January 1, 2026. If you run a law firm, you've got two reasons to pay attention: you need to comply with it as an employer, and if you represent injured clients, you need to understand how it affects them.

This seminar covers both angles. We'll walk through the compliance basics—posting requirements, wage reporting, premiums—so you can get your firm squared away. Then we'll dig into what PFML means for personal injury and workers' compensation clients who may now have access to paid leave they didn't have before.

Takeaways:

  • How PFML works: eligibility, benefits, and the claims process
  • What your firm needs to do to comply before January 1
  • How PFML coordinates with workers' comp, FMLA, and existing PTO policies
  • When and how to advise injured clients about their new leave rights
  • Tips for building PFML conversations into your practice
